Rule Title: SPECIAL MEETINGS.

Rule Text: A special meeting may be called at any time by the President of the Board of Education, or by a majority of the Members of the Board at a duly notice Board meeting, by delivering personally, by mail, or by fax written notice to each Member, and to each local newspaper of general circulation, radio, or television station requesting notice in writing. Such notice must be delivered personally, by mail, or by fax at least twenty-four hours before the time of such meeting as specified in the notice. In the absence of the President, a special meeting may be called by the President Pro Tempore, Vice President, or the Superintendent of Schools in case of emergency. The call and notice shall specify the time and place of the special meeting and the business to be transacted. No other business shall be considered at such meetings by the Board. Such written notice may be dispensed with as to any Member who at or prior to the time the meeting convenes files with the Executive Officer of the Board a written waiver of notice. Such written notice may also be dispensed with as to any Member who is actually present at the meeting at the time it convenes. (See Government Code Section 54956.) (Amended 5-25-99)


Rule Number: 24

Rule Title: MOTION FOR SPECIAL MEETINGS.

Rule Text: The motion to hold a special meeting shall specify the time and purpose of the meeting, and unless another place shall be designated in such motion, the meeting shall be held at the Board of Education Meeting Rooms at 450 North Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, California. (Adopted 2-10-49)
